Virtual Workshop

Service Description

Join us for an intensive time of self-reflection and mutual support while mapping out the contours of our body histories through the medium of the written word. Participants will gather around a series of prompts, and be given time to respond as they wish. We will practice both sharing vulnerably and discerning how to do so in a manner that seeks to protect and honor our peers in the group who come with histories of their own, such that all present are welcome and affirmed. Participants can expect to come away from each session feeling both challenged and encouraged. Most of all, participants can expect to enjoy a space where they feel seen and heard just as they are. Our host Chelsea Hall is a licensed clinical social worker with nearly a decade of experience supporting clients navigating weight stigma & eating disorder recovery. Chelsea hopes that by facilitating these types of supportive non-clinical spaces, we can work to undermine the systems and beliefs that keep diet culture big business, and keep all of us less connected to one another and to our own bodies. ** This group is not recommended for those in active engagement with an eating disorder, and may not be helpful for those early in their recovery; please discuss with Chelsea if you are uncertain whether this event is a good fit for you at this time. Because this is not a a psychotherapy group and should not be thought of as a substitute for mental health services, each participant is encouraged to consider whether additional supports may make their participation in the groups more effective. Fat Joy Jubilee is happy to provide referrals for many incredible therapists, Registered Dietitians, and other anti-diet professionals as needed.**
